Celebrating winter at the lake

Light up the Lake is our big winter celebration. Join us from 4pm on December 3rd for a lantern procession along the seafront and then watch the lake's night glow.

It's all about community

We've been celebrating mid-winter with our light show for a few years. Starting at Clevedon Pier at 4pm, a procession of families with homemade lanterns follow North Somerset Samba Band along the seafront to the lake. This is where the night glow begins at around 5pm performed by fire dancers and the clubs who use the lake.

This year's night glow show will be performed by:

  • Darklyte Fire Dancers

  • Clevedon Canoe Club

  • Clevedon Sailing Club

  • Clevedon Coastal Rowers

  • Clevedon Model Boating Club

  • SUPway Hire

  • Mental Health Swims

Light up the Lake is an event for the whole community, including families and people who don't normally use the lake. It's organised by Linda Knott and a team of volunteers and raises essential funds for the charity that looks after the marine lake, Marlens.

Marlens will have a small stall outside The Hive (next to the coastguard's hut) where we'll be selling our limited edition Clevedon Marine Lake bobble hats. Food and drink will be available at the Salthouse Bar & Restaurant who will donate some of their takings to Marlens.

Please note: for everyone's safety, there will be no access to Clevedon Marine Lake during the Night Glow performance between 4pm and 6pm.
